Established in 1975 under the umbrella of Egypt’s Ministry of Water Resources and Irrigation (MWRI),
the National Water Research Center (NWRC) has been at the forefront of water science and sustainable resource management for five decades. As Egypt’s leading institution in water research, NWRC plays a critical role in addressing national and regional water challenges through science-based solutions, policy support, and technological innovation.
As it marks its 50th anniversary in 2025, NWRC celebrates a legacy of excellence and impact, reaffirming its status as a Center of Excellence in water resource research and development.
With a team of more than 510 highly qualified researchers and technical experts, NWRC continues to merge decades of institutional experience with cutting-edge innovation to influence national water policies, support decision-making, and foster international cooperation.
